Doncaster Sheffield Airport has today (Jan 26) launched a Community Investment Fund to help projects in the Sheffield City Region.

The airport has set aside £5000 and is inviting community projects and organisations to bid for money to help them improve the local area.

Kellie Naylor, environment and community officer for Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “We are delighted to be launching Doncaster Sheffield Airport’s 2016 Community Investment Fund.

“In previous years we’ve assisted many groups ranging from community centres needing new disabled access to tree planning schemes and training for scout groups.
“The main aim of the fund is to help to improve the local environment and community that the airport serves.

“We hope to hear from organisations who are looking for small pots of money to help them to make a difference this year.”

The Doncaster Sheffield Airport Community Investment Fund was set up to enhance and improve the natural and built environment in the local community.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “Over the past ten years we have worked closely with our local communities and have worked with many local organisations to help to make a positive difference.”

Since the airport opened in 2005 over £15,000 has been awarded to range of projects bringing lasting benefits to the community.
